Sgraffito Pottery - September 11, 2019
Learn the art of sgraffito surface design in this one day workshop with artist and ceramicist Laura Bell.
Sgraffito is a decorative pottery technique produced by applying layers of color or colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images and patterns. Sgraffito can be a way to incorporate 2-D design into your 3-D artwork, a way to blend pattern building with other surface decoration techniques, or a way to provide additional texture to your work. Join this workshop to build your ceramics knowledge base and make your work unique.
-Students will complete up to two items using this technique.
-Materials will be provided
-All works will be fired after the workshop at Cone 6 and glazed with a clear glaze.
-Students can pick up their finished work after the workshop (mailing options available)
